North American    F-86F-35    Sabre

This F-86-35 was donated to the Brussels Air Museum by the Portuguese Air Force.  The PAF received USAF F-86F-30 and F-86F-35 Sabres under the Military Assistance Program (MAP). This  aircraft has the extended chord wing with slats that the F-86F-40 introduced, but this is a -35 aircraft.  I checked my reference book "The North American Sabre" by Ray Wagner. He states that after testing the F-86F-40 Sabres, the USAF brought all F-86F-25 and 30 aircraftup to F-86F-40 standard which included longer wings and the slats.  He does not mention the F-86F-35 Sabres.  I can only assume the -35's were brought up to -40 standards before being given to the Portuguese Air Force.
