Republic   F-84F   Thunderstreak

This page is a mixture of photos of two F-84F airframes. One, on display at McGuire
AFB is marked 52-7066, but I have information that it is actually  51-9430 a F-84F-
30-GK built by General Motors. The other is  51-1487 which is a F-84F-15-RE, and
is located at The Southern Museum of Flight in Birmingham, AL..1487 is disassembled
and in poor condition, but the photos of it reveal valuable details for the modeler. Both
of these aircraft have the shorter vertical fin / rudder. Later blocks had a taller fin /
rudder. The Monogram 1/48 F-84F kit depicts the taller tail.  Most of the photos on
this page were taken by Major Don Hinton, USAF. Thanks Don.

Tall  Fin / Rudder

A taller vertical fin and rudder were used on later F-84F's and RF-84F's. F-84F-45-RE &
subsequent and F-84F-40-GK & subsequent were built with the taller tail. These are photos
of F-84F's with the tall (Long) tail.
