The snap shots below were taken in 1959 at the Torrance Airport,
CA. At the time I
thought it was strange that a T-28A was in civilian markings. I
far as I knew at that
time T-28A's were still in service with the USAF. Now after 40 plus
years, it has
come to me that Bob Hoover was a test pilot with North American
Aviation at that
time. The main plant was only ten miles away at LAX. Hoover lived
just up the hill
from the Torrance Airport in Palos Verdes. Could he have used this
plane to commute
out to Edwards AFB each day ? Was it owned by NAA ? |
